Why We Created the Farm Lounge
People often ask why a farm needs a lounge or café space at all.
The answer is simple: hospitality.
Over time, we noticed people were traveling from 1 - 6 hours away to visit the farm. They would spend time walking, visiting animals, asking questions and learning about the farm.
Then eventually someone would ask:
“Where’s the bathroom?”
“Can I wash my hands?”
“Is there somewhere to sit?”
“Can I get a drink or a bite to eat before I head home?”
For a while, the answer was… drive about 10 miles into town to the nearest fast food restaurant or gas station.
That never felt quite right.
We are a working farm, but we also wanted to be welcoming. Inviting people into our personal home space for bathrooms, drinks, and handwashing created challenges for everyone—privacy, dogs, household routines, and simply trying to separate family life from hosting.
So, we built the Farm Lounge.
The Lounge gives guests a comfortable place to rest and wash up after walking the farm, and enjoy conversations out of the elements. We could also offer food or drinks. We are farmers, we grow food so, we also like to cook and serve food.
Then, after seeing the space, the ideas grew: we can offer farm talks and events (people often asked about spending more time on the farm). And, then there was the question of, how do we recover our costs and keep ourselves protected from liability (because now we are offering much more than just a farm tour!).
And, that is when FLAG was born (Fellowship, Learning and Growing on the Farm). FLAG works more like a community-supported space—similar in some ways to a church fellowship hall, museum membership, community club, or gathering place.
We ask visitors to sign in and pay a contribution fee to enter the space:
Membership options:
• Day Membership - simply stay for the day — $3 per family (Note: farm tours are $25 and include your $3 FLAG daily membership fee)
• Annual Membership - come back time after time for one year — $10 per family
For meals and drinks, we use a PWIW (Pay What It’s Worth) model.
That means there are no menu prices.
Instead, we invite members to contribute what they feel their food, drink, hospitality, and overall experience were worth to them.
Some contribute a little. Some contribute more. Every contribution helps support the experience for the next person.
Our goal has never been to create a restaurant or an income stream from this space.
Our goal is simply to create a place where people can experience a sustainable farm, slow down, connect with others, and enjoy being here.

"The lounge is my favorite spot! The coffee is incredible, and the farm views are so relaxing. It’s the perfect escape."
